[The first child mentioned appears as "Jas." or James. Elijah states in a document below, dated 1855, that his brother John had died. The documents below by brother John are dated 1853. So I assume this is the reason why John is not found in the above list of "surviving" children.]

HEADLEY VICKERS
The following story was related in a letter by Adrian (Vickers) Furr to her sister Endama (Vickers) Easley in 1973. Not much has been found concerning Headley Vickers (1.4.1.), but the name, circumstances, and age fits for "our" Headley, the grandson of Alexander and great nephew of William. Quoted as written, meet Headley Vickers:
"In the notes I made for you concerning family history and events as I remember them I know that I noted that Daddy had a cousin (I don't know how far removed) named Headley Vickers--But did I relate the part that to me is comical--that is that he was a "professional Hobo"--That was what he termed himself--Guess he was a bit ahead of his time because now I guess he would be called a "Hippie"-- I can remember him well because of the circumstances being so unusual--the family were embarrassed but still found his infrequent visits most interesting--He was always clean & neat and in conventional dress but loved to live the life of a Gypsy-- He was a itenerant photographer and a fairly good one I imagine as the few photographs I remember were not at all bad--He made the one of you on a post card with you sitting in a rocker and with a striped wool blanket draped over the back of the chair for back ground effect. I think you probably have the picture--I don't and I think there was only one print--but you were a small child--less than a year old I would guess. He apparently had some sort of income--faintly I seem to remember it was a Spanish- American War pension.
