Will of Thomas Vickers
The Estate of Alabama} I Thomas Vickers being of a sound and disposed mind
memory and
Montgomery
County} understanding do
make this my last will and testament in the manner following viz: I give will and devise to my wife Piety Vickers a
negro woman Liz[?] and her five children, viz: Simon, Mclinda, Joe, David
and Caroline. To my Daughter Olive Jane Vickers (viz:) Bob,
Roby, Anna, Phillis, Harriet, Nelly, George and
Louise. To my son Thomas Vanallen Vickers viz: Louis, Haney, big John, Leo, Hudson, Little John,
Julia, & Terry, the remainder of my estate both real and personal to be
divided into three equal parts. One portion of my wife Piety
Vickers. One portion to Jane and the remaining portion
to Thomas. This is my desire that Jane's portion should be settled on
her that in case of her marriage the same should not be liable for the debt of
her husband contracted before or after marriage. It is my will and [?] that if
one of the aforenamed should die before my wife Piety
Vickers his or her portion shall be equally divided between my wife Piety
Vickers and the surviving heir or if both should die before my wife Piety
Vickers the property shall remain hers. It is my wish that the whole of my
property should remain together under the entire control of my wife so long as
she may remain a widow or until the children should [?] or arrive at the age of
twenty one years, then his or her portion shall be allocated to them as they
shall respectively marry or arrive at age. I hereby nominate constitute and
appoint my wife sole Executrix of this my last will and testament hereby
revoking and making null and void all wills by me heretofore-- Thomas Vickers
Signed sealed published and delivered in the presence of us who at the request
of the testator have witnessed the same in his presence and in the presence of
each other this 12th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
hundred and thirty eight.

The State of Alabama} Personally appeared in open court Thomas G. Vickers
one of the
Montgomery County} subscribing witnesses to the last will and
testament of Thomas Vickers deceased and maketh oath
that he saw the deceased execute the same for the purpose therein exposited
that he was at the time of a sound disposing mind and memory that I. B. Taylor
and Edward Cunningham signed with himself as witnesses in the presence of each
other and the presence of the deceased and at his request--
